Eliphaz Bahizi was born in 1952 in Southern Province (Rwanda). His mother tongue is Kinyarwanda, but he speaks French very well and understands English. He holds a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from the National University of Burundi (1983). He taught biology for10 years in several secondary schools in Burundi before returning home in 1994 from a 20-year exile.
