Amb. Kabale presents credentials to UNESCO chief, 2nd October 2011

The Rwandan Ambassador to France, Jacques Kabale, early this week, presented his letter of credence to the Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Irina Georgieva Bokova.
A statement from the Rwandan embassy in Paris says the ceremony was held at the UNESCO headquarters located at Place de Fontenoy.
“After the presentation of his credentials, Ambassador Kabale expressed and underlined the significance of UNESCO to Rwanda.
He also insisted on the role of UNESCO in 1994, in the immediate aftermath of the Genocide and of the war, in particular in the restoration of the education system,” part of the statement reads.
Bokova highlighted the significant progress in Rwanda – particularly in the sector of education, culture of peace, gender, fight against poverty and sustainable development.
She emphasized the extent to which Rwanda is today considered an inspiration and added that ‘she is expecting a significant role of Rwanda during the coming 36th session of the General Conference 2011 of UNESCO”.
