Inauguration of the Museum of Environment in Karongi
On 16 July, 2015, the CNRU was invited by the Chairman Board of Directors and the Karongi District Mayor to the inauguration of the Museum of Environment in Karongi. The Museum is located at the border of Lake Kivu in Karongi and was built in 2013. On the top of the double stall building there is a herbal garden.

After the arrival of the Minister of Sports and Culture Julienne UWACU and the Governor of the Western Province Caritas MUKANDA SIRA, the Museum was opened in a ceremony by the guests of honor and the Director General of the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda Alphonse B. UMULIISA.

The Museum is located at the border of Lake Kivu in Karongi and was built in 2013. On the top of the double stall building there is a herbal garden.
In a tour of the museum and its herbal gardens, as well as an introduction film, the guests received an overview over the provided information and exhibition on various sources of energy, traditional herbal medicines as well as environmental conservation and preservation, in general, and the current practice in Rwanda.
 
 
The museum will have a variety of exhibitions that will change at given periods. However, the first will be on energy produced in Rwanda and in the rest of the world, and the role energy plays in an ever-changing environment.
In the following speeches in the garden of the Museum, the guests of honor pointed out the particularity of the Museum of Environment as the first of its kind on the African continent.

The outcome of the Museum was stated clearly in the enhancement of skills on environment conservation and preservation of the population while promoting the culture of traditional herbal medicine and the production of energy.
The Director General of the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda Alphonse B. UMULIISA thanked the European partners for the support and announced that more exhibitions were under process and that the Museum would become more and more international.

The ceremony closed with a prayer and then after lunch in Karongi the group left the Western province to Kigali at 4 pm.
